Source: EU considers embargo on Russian sea imports of oil
BRUSSELS, May 30 (PRIME) -- The E.U. leaders plan to reach a political agreement on Monday on an embargo on Russian oil imported by sea, a high-ranking European source said.
"The European Council plans to reach a political agreement on an embargo on Russian oil today. This embargo will cover more than two thirds of oil imports from Russia (all oil carried from Russia by sea)," the source said.
The official added that several E.U. member-states would be excluded from the embargo temporarily.
"The Council of Europe will return to discussion of the exclusions soon," the source said, adding that the sixth package of sanctions would also include disconnection of several large banks, including Sberbank, from the SWIFT system, prohibition on broadcasting of three Russian federal channels and a blacklist.
